Phlebology covers the prevention, the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of diseases and malformation of the venous system of the lower extremities including thrombotic disorders. Part of it is the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care of thrombotic diseases including the anticoagulation, the diagnosis of diseases in the terminal vessel, and the lymphatic system related to venous diseases especially of the lower extremities. Also included is sclerotherapy, as well as the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency and its complications, the compression therapy as well as the surgical treatment of venous diseases and their follow-up care.
